A Precious Hymn Treasure
As I have homeschooled my 4 children this week, I took a new approach to handwriting practice. One that came to mind as a simple idea, and, turned into a God thing as the week progressed on. Now, as Friday is here, I stand in awe of my God that He would take such a small school activity to so richly bless me. Then, it gave me an idea for my album…..so, I’m passing it on.
Teach your children one of your favorite hymns, worship chorus, or scripture verse. Go over the words - teach them the meaning - share with them the reasons the words touch you. Then, give them a simple piece of writing paper, give them the words, and let them copy a few key words or sentences. Take a pix of them holding the paper (with you, if you can), and save the paper. Can you imagine 5, 10, or even 20 years from now having that treasure? You can bet I have already filed mine away to save in my album!
I have included one of my favorite links on the web. It is a place to find not only the words to many hymns, but, also some background information about the writer. http://www.cyberhymnal.org/
What if you continued this each year on your birthday or Christmas - a gift to yourself from your children….They will know more about your heart; they will learn more of the Lord; and, you will have a treasure forever…..How awesome is that!
